Sadiq’s LaLiga debut for Almeria ends in defeat

Sadiq Umar was on parade for Almeria as they got their LaLiga campaign against off under way, playing host to Real Madrid on Sunday evening.

The Nigerian and his teammates fought hard, but Real Madrid narrowly took the game 1-2, with David Alaba scoring a fantastic free-kick to decide the encounter.

Despite being linked with a possible move away, Almeria coach Rubi announced that Sadiq will be available for selection for the game against the League champions.

Sadiq however led the attack in the intriguing battle in Andalucia, and was harmful for Real Madrid defenders all through the game.

The Super Eagles forward showed why he’s wanted by top teams in Europe, but only thing missing from his performance was goal.

Real Madrid were shocked to go behind early in the game when Largie Ramazani popped up to put Almeria ahead inside the opening five minutes.

The Rojiblancos went into the break with the lead, however, Real Madrid fought back in the second half to turn the tie around.

Lucas Vazquez netted the equalizer from close range, before Alaba curled a free-kick from the edge of the penalty area with 15 minutes left on the clock.

Almeria tried to force their way back in to the game, but Real Madrid held for a vital three points.
