Nigeria will not write-off the threat of Stuart Baxter’s Bafana Bafana as the sides prepare for the June 10 Afcon qualifying match, according to Super Eagles Coach Salisu Yusuf.
Salisu Yusuf told brila.net that the team have been studying video clips of the 1996 African champions and know to respect the quality of their opponents.
‘South Africa are a good side. We’ve been studying their past games; which is normal at this level.
‘In their last seventeen matches, they’ve won nine and drew eight. That is something to consider.
‘But we’re equally ready, and that game is one we’re sure to win.’
Nigeria hosts South Africa in a group E match on June 10 in a 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo.
The sides have met 12 times at the senior level with the Super Eagles picking 6 wins.
South Africa have only beaten Nigeria once and the sides have drawn the last three meetings, including the 2015 Afcon qualifiers.
