SD Ponferradina manager Jose Gomes believes the club’s new signing midfielder, Kelechi Nwakali can be a valuable addition to the squad next season.
Ponferradina won the race to sign the midfielder last week and has since resumed training with the squad.
Section of the fans however questioned the Club’s decision to sign Nwakali who previously had unproductive spells CD Huesca, Alcorcon and Arsenal.
In his response, Gomes said he believes the player has enormous quality and can help the team in several ways.
“At the U-17 World Cup, he (Nwakali) was the best player and it was not an accident.
“He is very intelligent, he knows how to take up space, he has good passes, dribbles well and delivers good pull-outs,” Gomes told the club’s official website.
Nwakali could make his debut for Ponferradina when they take on Real Valladolid in the friendly game later today.
The Spanish second division side also have a date with Sporting Dijon on Saturday.
