Semi Ajayi’s coach Bilic accuses referee of denying West Brom a point vs Man Utd

West Brom boss Slaven Bilic praised the efforts of Semi Ajayi and his teammates, despite going down to Manchester United.

Ajayi who recently returned from national team assignment featured for the entire duration of the match as West Brom fell to a controversial penalty decision at Old Trafford.

The Baggies were denied the opportunity to go in front when referee VAR overturned what looks to be a clear penalty in the second half.

The visitors were at the end of another controversial decision when the referee asked Bruno Fernandes to retake his penalty after goalkeeper Sam Johnstone saved the initial effort.

After the game, Billic said his side gave everything, but referee decisions denied them at least a point from the game.

“We played well. We had a few chances to score. We were there. I told the guys I’m disappointed, I think we deserved something. We deserved to go in front in the second half. I told them to stay positive and stay and fight and train and we’ll win games.” He said.

On the penalty they had overturned: “I’m very disappointed with the decision. I felt like a ‘small West Brom’. All those crucial decisions went against us. I’ve watched it a few times and it’s a clear penalty. I don’t understand why he overturned it.” he said.
