Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has been left out of Napoli’s squad for Tuesday’s, UEFA Champions League match against Ajax.
Osimhen hasn’t played for the Serie A leaders since limping off against Liverpool at the Diego Maradona’s Stadium last month.
The Nigerian forward has missed the Partenopei’s last four games across all competitions as a result of the injury.
It was widely reported that the player will be available for Tuesday’s Champions League matchday three encounters against Ajax.
The club also revealed via their website that the striker joined the morning session at SSCN Konami Training Center and did custom work in the gym and on the pitch.
However, Coach Luciano Spalletti named his squad for the game few hours later and Osimhen was missing from the list.
The reason for his omission is unknown, but it is likely that the striker is yet to regain full fitness.
Napoli are currently top of the Group with six points and a victory over Ajax at the Amsterdam Arena will move them closer to the knock out phase.
