Shorunmu wants Akpeyi and Ezenwa in Eagles team

Former Nigerian international Ike Shorunmu believes that both Daniel Akpeyi and Ikechukwu Ezenwa are talents that can make an impact if given the opportunity to represent Nigeria.

Super Eagles did not qualify for the 2015 AFCON tournament after they were held to a 2-2 draw by Bafana Bafana four years ago.

The Eagles influential captain, Tianjin TEDA Mikel Obi and the likes of Odion Ighalo, Brown Ideye and Victor Moses will miss out on the action against South Africa.

And Shorunmu, wants Daniel Akpeyi and Ikechukwu Ezenea to be included in the squad.

Speaking with Brila FM, Shorunmu has stated that Akpeyi, and Ifeanyi Ubah FC goalkeeper, Ezenwa can contribute to the team.

“We have to be ready for Bafana Bafana and I know we have the talents to get the desired result”

“They are a lot of great players in the team but I believe that more players should also be given a chance to showcase their abilities”

“Players like Akpeyi and Ezenwa should be given the chance to represent Nigeria because they’re talented in their own way, but I believe that fans should stop ruing the absence of Wolverhampton Wanderers Carl Ikeme who remains the country’s first choice goalkeeper, Shorunmu said,”.

The Super Eagles will play Bafana Bafana of South Africa on Saturday on June 10 in their quest for the qualification of 2019 AFCON.
