Super Eagles winger, Moses Simon featured for Nantes in their 1-1 draw against Auxerre on Saturday in a tense Ligue 1 encounter at the Stade de l’Abbé-Deschamps.

Making his 31st league appearance of the season, the Nigerian continued his steady run of form, though he couldn’t quite influence the outcome.

Auxerre opened the scoring just before the break through Perrin, capitalising on a defensive lapse to take a 1-0 lead into halftime.

Nantes responded after the restart, with Leroux finishing calmly in the 62nd minute to bring the visitors level.

Despite late pressure from both sides, neither could find a winner in what turned out to be a cagey, hard-fought contest.

Simon, who was substituted in the 90th minute for Guirassy, endured a quieter outing than usual but still showed flashes of his attacking intent.

He completed 13 of 15 passes (an 87% success rate) and worked tirelessly down the flank, though he failed to register a shot on target and had limited influence in the final third.

The 29-year-old remains one of Nantes’ most productive players this season, having scored seven goals and provided nine assists, a career-best tally since arriving in France.

Nantes, however, remain in a precarious position. Their Ligue 1 survival will come down to the final day, where they must beat already-relegated Montpellier at home to avoid relegation.

Any slip-up could be fatal, depending on the outcomes of other fixtures.

For Simon Moses, his individual campaign has been a bright spot in an otherwise turbulent season for Les Canaris.

Whether his efforts will be enough to keep the club afloat remains to be seen, but one thing is certain: Nantes will be counting on their Nigerian talisman one more time.
