Soccoia “Proud” of his players after Win over Rivers United

Kano Pillars Technical Adviser, Lionel Soccoia has commended his players for the win over Rivers United.

Pillars defeated Rivers United 1-0 at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium in Kaduna on Wednesday, thanks to Nyima Nwagua’s second goal of the season.

The hosts played the last 40 minutes of the game with ten players after Abbas Rabiu was sent off for deliberate handling of the ball.

Despite the numerical disadvantage, Pillars were the better side and should have won the game by wider margin.

In his post-match press conference, Soccoia was pleased with the attitude and efforts of the players all through the difficult game.

‘I really appreciate the commitment shown by my players today and they deserved to be commended because the game is huge and they justified the confidence we have on them,’ said the Pillars Coach.

Soccoia’s men will now shift focus to the next game against Akwa United on Sunday.

The match will be played at the Nest of Champions in Uyo and the team is expected to depart Kaduna for venue Thursday morning.
