Southampton boss Nathan Jones has dismissed claims that he wants Joe Aribo out of the club.
Aribo a regular under former Saints coach, Ralph Hasenhüttl, has struggled for game time since Nathan Jones came on board.
The midfielder hasn’t started a premier league game since December, with his sole start coming in the FA Cup clash against lower division club Blackpool.
The Nigeria was then linked with a possible return to Scottish club, Rangers, in the January transfer window, but nothing concrete happened.
Speaking on the Player’s future, Jones said there is no single truth in the reports, and insists he is happy to have the player in the squad.
“I’ve tried to sign Joe at two places I was at. I tried to sign him at Luton when he was younger and I tried to sign him at Stoke City when I was there.
“I see a lot in Joe and I’ve known him for a long time from the Charlton academy. I know what he can do and there’s a lot of new players here this year that may take a little bit of time,” he said.
Aribo was in Southampton’s team that lost to Brentford in a PL game on Saturday. He was an unused substitute.
