Napoli are in the race to have star striker Victor Osimhen back for Wednesday’s UEFA Champions League clash with AC Milan.
Osimhen has not kicked a ball for the Partenopei since returning from international break, after being diagnosed with adductor muscle tear.
He has started treatment, but missed the 4-0 home defeat to Milan and then 2-1 win at Lecce this Friday.
Corriere dello Sport reported that Napoli are now desperate to have the forward in time for the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final tie with Milan, scheduled for April 12.
The Nigerian striker is working alone in the gym, and time is starting to run out as he works on his recovery.
Speaking after the win at Lecce, Coach Luciano Spalletti, stressed the importance of the Nigerian, stating that Napoli is finding it difficult to cope with Osimhen’s absence.
“it does become difficult without him, because he has this way of running into space, his physicality, he can draw everyone to him and therefore create the space.”
To complicate matters for Spalletti, second choice striker Giovanni Someone suffered a knee injury against Lecce, meaning he’s at a risk of missing out.
Osimhen will have another examination later today to determine, if he’ll make the trip to Milan.
