Nigeria will stun Rwanda in their 2026 FIFA World Cup group qualifying match and get their campaign back on track, according to former Super Eagles assistant coach Fanny Amun.
Rwanda, second in group C, host Nigeria on Friday at the Amahoro Stadium and the latter need a victory.
With only three points from four matches, the pressure is on Nigeria to respond with positives results this international window, and Amun expressed confidence in the team’s quality.
Speaking with Brila.net, the former Super Eagles trainer said he was “optimistic” of a good outcome from the encounter.
Between the sides, there’s been 7 previous meetings and Nigeria has picked up only two wins – none of which was on the road.
The last meeting between the teams ended in a 2-1 defeat for Nigeria at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in an AFCON qualifier.
Amun stated that it’s now all up to the players to show their mettle as he believes they’ve been accorded the necessary support by the federation needed ahead of today’s crucial game.
