Nigeria’s Minister for Youth and Sports Development, Mr. Sunday Dare has appointed former track Mary Onyali (MFR) as the new Special Adviser.
Dare who replaced Solomon Dalung at the helm of affairs announced the appointment on Tuesday during a meeting with the Nigeria Olympic Committee Executive members, as part of his restructuring into Nigeria’s sports.
Onyali represented Nigeria at major Championships like the Olympic games, world championship, African game no name a few.
She won a bronze medal at the Olympic Games in Barcelona 92, the feat she recorded again in Atlanta 96.
51-year-old Onyali won a total of seven African Games individual medals in a short sprint, and her wealth of experience will be needed to help the Minister relaunch Nigeria sports back to the top.
