Standard Liege coach regrets not signing Victor Boniface

Standard Liege manager Ronny Deila says he regrets the decision to pass on the chance to sign striker Victor Boniface.

The Jupiler League Manager revealed he had the opportunity to sign the Nigerian striker during their time in Norway.

Since passing him on, Boniface has become one of the most talked about forward in Belgium, after making a club record transfer of €2m from Bodo Glimt.

“I had Victor Boniface on trial at Valerenga, but I had three attackers at that time,” Deila told French media, Walfoot.

“It was a mistake not to offer him a contract and transfer him. He then joined Bodo/Glimt.

“He is a very good player who is physically solid and who is skillful in front of the opposing goals. I am impressed with what he has already achieved in his career, and he is still young. We will have to watch him well,” He said.

Victor Boniface has netted six goals and created three assists in 19 appearances in all competitions for Union Saint-Gilloise this term.
