Stanley Eguma confident of positive result against Jigawa Golden Stars

Rivers United coach Stanley Eguma says the match against Jigawa Golden Stars is a must a win for his side if they want to move up the ladder.

The ‘Pride of Rivers’ brilliant start to the season hit a brick wall with back-to-back defeats against Warri Wolves and Akwa United but a 1-1 draw in Jos against Plateau United in their last match may have set the Port Harcourt side back on track.

Rivers United are currently placed in the 7th in the NPFL table with 19 points and just two points separating them from their opponents who are 11th in the table.

Coach Stanley Eguma will be banking on their good home form for the game as they have only conceded just a goal on home turf this season and won all their home matches.

Speaking ahead of the game, Eguma said: “The spirit in camp now is high, and I believe that we are back on track and we will take it from there to forge forward to where we belong.” He said.

Four of Rivers United’s next five league games come against teams currently below them in the table, including FC IfeanyiUbah and MFM FC in their next two after Jigawa Golden Stars, while they also have a double-header against Dakada FC coming up in April.
