Stanley Eguma downplays Rivers United loss to Lobi Stars

Rivers United head coach Stanley Eguma says he’s satisfied with the performance of his boys, despite losing 1-0 against Lobi Stars on day 1 of the 2020 Governor Wike Pre Season Tournament.

The Pride of Rivers fell to Ossy Martin’s only goal of the game, scored in the 22nd minute of the encounter.

Martins capitalized on an error to score a superb lob into the top right corner that caught goalkeeper Ospina Egbe napping.

Rivers United made multiple changes to salvage at least a point but it proved too little as the Pride of Benue held on for their first win of the tournament.

Speaking after the narrow defeat, Eguma failed to lament the result of the game but praised his team instead.

“It wasn’t a bad game and performance for us, we have seen that we have a lot of work to do. I’m not disappointed with the boys, it’s a work in progress. We did better in the second half.”He said.

Rivers United will now turn their attention to the next game against Akwa United.
