Super Eagles AFCON Opponents Burundi To Begin Training Camp In Qatar

Super Eagles Group B opponents at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations, Burundi, are set depart from the shore of the country to step up preparation for the tournament.

The team is expected to begin their training camp in Qatar on Sunday, ahead of the tournament where they will face Nigeria, Guinea and fellow debutants Madagascar.

Burundi are expected to face Algeria and Tunisia in a pre-AFCON 2019 friendly in the oil-rich country, as they keen to impress at their first major tournament.

Sacked Stoke City striker Saido Berahino who will be one of the country’s talisman in Egypt,  said it’s important the country start their preparation earlier.

“It’s important we start getting as much game preparation as possible before the camp,” Berahino said at a press conference.

“We fly to Qatar on Sunday and we start playing against better teams which will test us and give us that extra push to have us ready for the African Cup.

“Everybody in the team is looking forward to the African Cup. We’ve made history and some of the boys, I don’t think they’re going to play in a bigger tournament in their lives. Even myself, it’s the biggest tournament I’ll play in for the first time.

“We’re working very hard and God is going to help us, I know for sure.” He said.
