Super Eagles continue poor run against Algeria

The Super Eagles of Nigeria were beaten by Algeria in Tuesday’s friendly match in Oran.

Terem Moffi gave the Eagles an ideal start to the game, when he opened scoring inside in the eight minute.

Atalanta forward, Ademola Lookman thought he had add the second few minutes later, but his goal was disallowed for offside.

Algeria finally found their rhythm and deservedly got their equalizer through Riyad Mahrez.

The Manchester City winger scored from the penalty spot, after the Referee penalized Frank Onyeka for a wreckless challenge in the box.

Youcef Atal scored the winner for the hosts in the 61st minute. Atal unleashed a straight shot from outside the box and replays showed goalkeeper Francis Uzoho should have done better.

Jose Peseiro has now lost his first game to an African opponent as the head coach of the team.

The Super Eagles have also failed to win any of their last four games against the Desert Foxes.

The team will next face Portugal on the 17th of November, with the latter using the game as tune-up for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

Portugal are drawn in the same group as Ghana.
