Super Eagles defender debut for Empoli against Lecce

Defender Tyronne Ebuehi finally debuted for Empoli in Serie A on Sunday evening.

The Dutch-born Nigerian full-back made his bow in the clash against Lecce at the Stadio Comunale Via del Mare.

Ebuehi signed for Empoli in a permanent deal from Portuguese giants Benfica this summer.

After being left out of the squad for the first two games of the season, the former FC Utrecht and Ado Den Haag’s full-back finally got the chance to make his bow on Sunday.

Ebuehi was introduced in the 65th minute for his first competitive game for the club.

He replaced Slovenian right back Petar Stojanović, who had already been booked and was having a tough time keeping the opposition attackers quiet.

Ebuehi had a touch of the ball 24 times in total and played 20 passes, accounting for 87.7% of his success rate.

He made one clearance and won two headers for his side.

The game however ended in a 1-1 draw, with Gabriel Strefezza canceling out Fabiano Parisi’s opener for Empoli.
