Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle and team captain William Troost-Ekong spoke to the media
ahead of Nigeria’s FIFA World Cup qualifying match against Zimbabwe, on Tuesday.
Chelle, who celebrated his managerial debut with a 2-0 victory over Rwanda, shared, “We had a productive training session yesterday, and we plan to wrap up our preparations this evening.”

He added, “I’ve had discussions with the players, and we must focus on Zimbabwe and put in the hard work.”
Ekong stressed that the team was putting the Rwanda match behind them and concentrating solely on the Zimbabwe encounter.
“There are no easy games in Africa. We’re preparing to keep improving and are looking forward to tomorrow’s game,” said Ekong, who has made 76 caps for Nigeria since 2015.
He also highlighted the team’s determination to meet the challenge head-on.
The Super Eagles CB further acknowledged the coach’s influence in shaping the team’s system.
“We have intelligent players who will quickly adapt. We possess the quality, and we need to demonstrate it
tomorrow,” he stated.
Nigeria heads into the match in 4th place, with one win from five group games, while Zimbabwe
is at the bottom of Group C, having failed to win any of their five matches so far.
The Super Eagles will face Zimbabwe at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo at 5:00 PM.
