Former Manchester United striker Odion Ighalo is gutted to miss the African Cup of Nations, but has wished the Super Eagles all the best in the tournament.
In a video shared on the social media handle of the Nigeria Football Federation, the 32-year-old apologized for missing the tournament.
Ighalo opted out after his club, Al-Shabab failed to release him, but he optimistic about Nigeria’s chances of excelling in Cameroon.
“I wish the Super Eagles all the best in Cameroon. Sorry I couldn’t make it, but I’m supporting the team and wish very best.”
“We have enough talents to take us to final, and we need all the prayers and support from Nigerians.” He said.
Meanwhile, Paderborn of Germany defender Jamilu Collins joined the team on Monday.
The arrived the camp on Monday evening, and likely to miss the Group opener against Egypt on Tuesday evening.
