Super Eagles Manager Impressed with Aribo, Balogun ahead of AFCON Qualifiers

Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr is delighted with the contributions of Joe Aribo and Leon Balogun to the success of Rangers.

Aribo and Balogun had been instrumental in Rangers’ incredible season so far with the duo helping the Gers to the round of 16 in Europa league and top of the Scottish league.

Speaking to Scottish tabloid, Daily Records Sports, Rohr said he’s delighted to see Aribo and Balogun impacting at Ibrox and hopes they bring the form to the national team.

“Leon has a very good character and self confidence and I was happy when he moved to Glasgow Rangers because he didn’t play enough in England.

“Leon is one of the leaders in my group and I’m happy he has had success in European competition with Rangers. He is also one of my vice captains, we have a young team in Nigeria and he is an experienced player which is vital.

“I’m very satisfied with Leon and Joe and particularly with the attitude of them both.

“Since I invited Joe Aribo to the squad we have had only good performances. He was, for us, an important player in the midfield with his left foot, mobility, commitment and fantastic mentality.

“He can play as a defensive or offensive midfielder. Joe is good at pressing and immediately struck up a wonderful relationship with Alex Iwobi,“ The Franco-German tactician said.

Meanwhile Balogun and Aribo are expected to make the Super Eagles squad that will take on Benin Republic and Lesotho in Afcon qualifiers later this month.

The games will hold March 27 at Port Novo and March 30 in Lagos respectively.
