Super Eagles Technical adviser Gernot Rohr has set his sight on winning the 2019 AFCON in Cameroon but said his side must finish on top of their qualifying Group when they visit South Africa next month.
The Eagles are leading Group E with nine points from four games, closely followed by the Bafana Bafana of South Africa on eight points from same number of matches.
It would be recalled that the South Africa ran away with all three points when they visited the Eagles last year in Uyo.
However , Rohr has warned that his side must not make the same mistake when they visit the South Africans next month.
“We didn’t qualify for two editions and so we must return in a big way. We are working very hard to make sure that we get the necessary points in our next match in South Africa.
“We want to make sure that we don’t lose the match just like what happened in our first match.
“We know that a good result in the match will put us at ease before the visit of Seychelles in our last match at home. We want to finish top of the group.”
A point in Johannesburg will guarantee Nigeria a place in the Africa biggest football festival in Cameroon, having missed out in the previous two editions.
