Coach of Cape Verde, Pedro ‘Bubista’ Leitao says the Super Eagles won’t qualify for the 2022 World Cup unless drastic improvements are made.
Bubista made this known after his side drew 1-1 with Nigeria at the Teslim Balogun Stadium on Tuesday.
Recalled the Super Eagles needed an own goal and a defensive error to edge the Blue Sharks when both sides first met in Mindelo.
Bubista’s side as expected finished second with 11 points, while Nigeria topped the Group with 13 points.
Assessing the performance over the two legs, Bubista said, his team played better and maintained that the Nigerian side aren’t good enough for a World Cup ticket at the moment.
“The world has seen the Nigerian team and I am still standing by my personal opinion that they won’t make it to the World Cup in Qatar. Massive improvement is needed all round in the team,” he stated.
