Super Eagles scared of Portugal — Aghahowa

Former Nigerian forward, Julius Aghahowa said the Super Eagles were poor and deserved to lose against Portugal on Thursday.

Jose Peseiro’s side were well beaten by the Portugal at the Estadio Jose Alvalade.

It was another defeat for Nigeria under Peseiro, who already endured frustrating results against Mexico and Algeria.

Reacting to the game, the former Striker described the Nigeria’s game play and confidence as “poor by all standard”, stating that they were scared of the Portuguese.

“The first half, the Eagles had no opportunity to attack and for the stirkers to score. We needed to create more chances to score in games like this.

“The players looked scared to have the ball. Our team also lacked mobility,” Aghahowa said.

Manchester United’s midfielder Bruno Fernandes scored twice, while substitutes Goncalo Ramos and Joao Mario scored late in the add to Nigeria’s misery.
