English Championship side Stoke City have completed the signing of striker Josh Maja on deadline day from French Ligue 1 club Bordeaux on loan.
The Super Eagles striker becomes Stoke City’s fifth capture of the January window, after Taylor Harwood-Bellis, Phil Jagielka, Lewis Baker, and Jaden Philogene-Bidace.
The 23-year-old struggled with adequate game time at Bordeaux and reportedly demanded a move back to England — where he started his career.
The 23-year-old Nigerian international striker has touched down at the bet365 Stadium, but the transfer is still subject to international clearance.
Maja launched his first-team career with Sunderland, scoring 16 goals in 41 league appearances which brought him to the attention of Bordeaux.
He joined the French club in January 2019 and scored 12 goals in 52 appearances.
Maja spent the second of last season on loan with Fulham in the Premier League, scoring three goals in 15 appearances.
