Super Falcons interim coach, Justin Madugu spoke about the importance of giving opportunities to home-based players after Edo Queens forward, Folasade Ijamilusi, scored a hat-trick in the 4-1 victory over Algeria.

Madugu made five changes from the lineup in their first-leg win, aiming to test various players and assess their potential in future tournaments.

“If you don’t give them the opportunity to play, there’s no way you can assess them,” the Coach told Brila.net after the game.

“That’s why we made a lot of changes. We made five changes from the team that started the first game, and in the course of the game, we brought in some other players to see what they could bring to the table.”

The coach revealed he is committed to integrating more homegrown talents, especially those who show promise in high-pressure matches.

“These two games have shown us the potential in many of these players. A number of them can be given the opportunity even when we’re playing tougher teams.”

Madugu confirmed that future camps will include both local and international players, ahead of Nigeria’s World Cup qualifiers next year.
