Former U.S national team player, Joanna Lohman who played with Nigeria’s player, Francesca Ordega at Washington spirit has hailed the Nigeria women’s national team dominance in Africa and believes there is a similarity between the U.S team and the Nigeria women’s team.
In a chat with www.brila.net Joanna said “The Falcons are a very tremendous and strong team, the best team in Africa, playing at every world cup, the consistency compared to other teams in the continent is awesome.
Also they have really strong and fast players, they are technical and it’s incredible to see them play together always which is similar to the United States women’s team.”
The Former Washington spirit’s player also revealed the need for more investment in women’s football across the world, especially in Africa.
“I know the Nigeria women’s team and other teams in Africa are fighting the battle to get more funding and better resources, they have my full support and I hope these countries start investing in the women’s game.”
Joanna also shared the secret to the United state women’s national soccer team’s dominance in the world, she disclosed ”
Its the culture of winning, the U.S support female athlete unlike ant other countries that I know, parents want their children to play sport especially the girls, its also seen as a boost to education, so its ingrained in our U.S culture, we have the undying ability to win.”
