Tamara Ezekiel believes an influx of experienced players and the aura of manager Gbenga Ogunbote could help Shooting Stars qualify for the Super six.
Serial winner Ogunbote is at his third stint with the Oluyole Warriors this season.
After a difficult first stanza, the gaffer improved the squad with experience signings, including Sikiru Alimi, defenders, Adeleye Olamilekan and Ikouwem Utin.
The team is now chunking out results, unbeaten in their last five games and back in contention for the Super six.
“We have got players who have won things in the changing room, we have got good experience in the changing room, good leaders on and off the pitch, and I feel like we are gradually getting better mentally.
“If we continue on this road, then can achieve things, but we are not getting carried away,” Tamara told Brila.net.
Tamara is working with Ogunbote again, after their first spell together at Lobi Stars of Makurdi.
Upon his exit from Kwara United, the midfielder had numerous offer from teams, but decided to team up with Shooting Stars.
“Obviously coach Ogunbote is a winner at every level,” he added.
“I enjoyed my time with him at Lobi Stars, he played huge part in my development, so opportunity to work with him again, is what I can’t reject.
He’s a special manager and obviously he wants to win things here. It is just instilling that confidence into the team. He is a great man, with great experience. It’s left to us as players imbibe the mentality and deliver for the club and fans.” He concluded.
Tamara featured for Shooting Stars against El-Kanemi Warriors and Gombe United, completing 90 minutes on both occasions.
