Nigeria’s controversial Tokyo 2020 Olympic campaign ended with a whimper, but Team Nigeria leaves Japan with 2 Olympic medals.


Nigeria took 55 athletes to the games and also participated in 10 Sports, including Athletics, Badminton, Basketball, Canoeing, Gymnastics, Rowing, Swimming, Table Tennis, Taekwondo, Wrestling.


Ese Brume, won Nigeria’s first medal in the games after finishing third in the Women’s long jump event to claim the bronze medal for Team Nigeria.


Blessing Okorodudu, 32, won Nigeria’s second medal after finishing second in the 68kg women’s freestyle wrestling to claim the silver medal.


Nigeria’s adventure was overshadowed by the disqualification of ten athletes The World Athletics Integrity Unit for not compliance with the testing protocol.


Medal hopeful Blessing Okagbare was also hit with a ban by the World Athletics Integrity Unit few hours before her 100m Women’s semi-final race for failing dope test.
