Former Napoli midfielder Salvatore Bagni believes Napoli didn’t play to the strength of Victor Osimhen in their 1-1 draw against AS Roma on Monday.
Osimhen didn’t live up to expectations against the Giallorossi as Napoli saw their title bid hit the rock following the 1-1 draw.
The performance further fuelled claims by some section of Napoli fans that the striker isn’t a big game player.
However, Salvatore Bagni faulted Napoli’s set up during the game, adding that the midfield did not play to the striker’s strength.
“The problem is that there are no playable balls in front of him: they are serving him less than in the past and also badly.”
“There is no suggestion from the attacking midfielders, but these balls are often thrown from the defence. And it is clear that in certain situations the opposing defence have an easy game on Osimhen.
“But we cannot question the value of the player. I have received important news about the center forward.”
Salvatore Bagni hinted Osimhen is courting interests from some big teams in Europe for his performances since moving to Naples.
“They told me that all the most important teams in Europe, those aiming to win, are interested in the Nigerian. Is there a reason or not?,” he asked rhetorically.
