The injury is a big blow to Sadiq — Mutiu Adepoju

Ex Super Eagles star Mutiu Adepoju has advised to Sadiq Umar to adhere to instructions from doctors as he starts road to recovery from injury.

Real Sociedad’s record signing, Umar Sadiq ruptured anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee.

The injury is pretty bad for sportsmen that usually requires surgery and a long time on the sideline.

Adepoju, who spent four seasons with the La Liga club, stated that the injury is a setback to Sadiq’s career, adding that it could affect him psychologically.

“It is set back for him, just like every other injury. A player who arrived at Sociedad with so much energy to score goals find himself injured and ruled out for nine months; this could have a psychological impact on him.

“But it’s also not end of his career, I expect him to return much earlier and start scoring goals. I will advise him to remain calm and follow up his recovery process diligently as instructed by the doctor,” He said.

Umar has scored three time in five league games this season.
