The plight of Basketball players in Nigeria should be a cause for concern as the no date for the league drags on and basically, the players are out of the job.
For over 7 months the Men’s Premier Basketball League has been offseason and despite the national team participating in the World Cup qualifiers and 3×3 championship.
Speaking brila.net, D’Tigers and Rivers Hoopers Forward, Abdu Yahaya lamented the poor state of the administration of the sport, particularly over the neglect of the domestic league.
“We don’t have a league in Nigeria anymore; Most times people don’t want to be honest, but the truth is we don’t have any league in Nigeria,” Yahaya vented.
“Right now there is no basketball going on, we’re all at home. Just imagine Stanley Gumut is at home, Nda Abu, Jemba Jemba.
“We cannot take this anymore, no league in Nigeria or competition that people can play.”
