Rivers United boss Stanley Eguma believes they are still a long road from the title, and want his team to keep pushing.
Book markers have tipped the Rivers United are the favorites for this season’s Nigeria Professional Football League title.
They justified the tag with an impressive 1-0 away win against four time Champions Kano Pillars at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium on Wednesday.
Summer signing, Nyima Nwagua won the maximum points for the Pride of Rivers on his game against Kano Pillars — the club he represented for four seasons.
With two games left to the second phase of the campaign, Eguma’s side are leading the league table with 35 points from 16 games.
”The league is still on, Pillars game is one of those games, Eguma told the press.
“It’s not the end of the league, we won , we are expected to do better in other games because other teams are also coming.
“The league is not over until it’s over, we keep working hard and prepare for the next game,” he concluded.
Up next, it’s Shooting Stars on Sunday 6th March 2022. Kick-off is at 4pm (NIG time) at Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium.
