Nigeria’s goalkeeper at the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, Chiamaka Nnadozie has expressed gratitude following the team’s qualification for the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
A 1-0 defeat victory against Cameroon secured not only a place in the semi-final of the WAFCON, but also a ticket to next year’s World Cup.
The game’s only goal was scored in the 56th minute from a Rasheedat Ajibade header.
Cameroon tried to get an equaliser, but their efforts proved futile as the Super Falcons defence held its own and goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie kept a third consecutive clean sheet in the competition.
Nnadozie missed Nigeria’s opening group game defeat against South Africa through suspension, but she now powered the team to three straight victories in the competition.
The Youngster, who is also in the running for the African Player of the Year award, has kept more clean sheets than any other goalkeeper at the WAFCON 2022.
She tweeted after the victory:
3 CLEAN SHEET, WORLD CUP QUALIFICATION, GOD IS TOO FAITHFUL TO FAIL.
