Tokyo Olympics: Oshonaike Lost First Game To America’s Liu Juan

Nigeria Table Tennis Queen Funke Oshonike suffered defeat in first match at the ongoing Tokyo Olympics games.

The former All African games champions was beaten by United States of America’s Liu Juan in the  women’s singles table tennis events in early hours on Saturday Morning in Tokyo Japan.

The experienced Oshonaike competing in her seventh Olympics, lost to Liu Juan by four set to one in the preliminary round.

The American took the first three set 7-11, 3-11, 4-11, before Oshonaike fought back to take the 4th set 13-11.

The 36-year-old American, however, sealed the win with 4-11 victory in the fifth set to advance to the next round of the game.

Liu Juan will now take Spanish star Galia Dvorak in the first found of the games.
