Udinese defender William Troost-Ekong will miss his side’s Serie A clash against Cagliari on Sunday due to suspension.
Troost-Ekong picked up his fifth yellow card of the campaign for a foul on Aaron Ramsey in their 2-1 victory against Juventus on Thursday.
Speaking on his suspension, the 26-year-old disagreed with referee Massimiliano Irrati but expressed confidence in his team’s ability to win the game.
“In my opinion, it was not a serious foul to have warranted a caution, however, I have confidence in the team and I know they can do it even without me,”
The Nigeria international has made 25 league appearances for Luca Gotti men this season.
He will return for Udinese’s penultimate game of the season – against Lecce on Wednesday.
Udinese are currently 15th on the Serie A standings with 39 points from 35 league outings and will need at least two wins from their remaining three games to avoid relegation.
