The Manu Garba-led Golden Eaglets of Nigeria got their CAF U17 AFCON Qualifiers (WAFU B) campaign on a low as they bowed 3-2 to Burkina Faso on Monday.
Despite dominating the possession, it was Burkina Faso that got the needed goals through their striker Albert Kone and Idriss Issa.
But Olusegun Olakunle brought Nigeria back into the game in the first 45 minutes as he netted a brace in the fiercely contested game.
Albert Kone completed his brace 12 minutes from time to condemn Nigeria to a defeat.
Nigeria lads will have the opportunity to redeem their image when they take on Ivory Coast on Thursday in the second match.
Qualification for the eaglets looks dicey now though as only the winner of the zone will qualify for the Africa Youth Championship slated for Tanzania in 2019.
