Nigeria U20 WNT, the Super Falconets, have been drawn in Group D for the 2024 U20 Women’s World Cup, as announced by the world soccer governing body during the draw held in Bogota on Wednesday.
The Falconets, who have qualified for every edition of the World Cup, find themselves in Group D alongside Korea Republic, Venezuela, and Germany.
It’s the second consecutive tournament where Nigeria and South Korea will compete in the same group.
Last time around, Nigeria secured a slim 1-0 victory over South Korea courtesy of Esther Onyenezide’s late strike.
The expanded 24-team U-20 Women’s World Cup will be hosted by Colombia, with the tournament scheduled to take place from August 31 to September 22.
Nigeria’s History with Former Champions, Germany
The Falconets hope to win the World Cup this time around, but Coach Danjuma’s side is set to face tough opposition in Colombia, particularly from three-time champions Germany, who are also in Group D.
Germany have denied Nigeria the championship final twice in 2010 and 2014.
