U23 AFCON: South Africa’s Game Plan for Olympic Eagles Revealed

South Africa will stick with the same game plan as their previous group matches, when they face Nigeria in a decisive final group phase encounter in the CAF U23 Africa Cup of Nations.

Sitting top of Group B, South Africa will seek to finish top of the standings with an outright win over Nigeria’s Olympic Eagles at the Al Salam in Cairo on Tuesday.

Speaking ahead of Friday’s game, Midfielder Teboho Mokoena explained that the team had no intention of slowing down.

David Notoane’s men drew goalless in their first game against Zambia before defeating Ivory Coast courtesy an exquisite Mokoena free-kick.

“We played really well against Ivory Coast in our previous match and Nigeria is another side that we will need to manage as well,” Mokoena was quoted on safa.net.

“We have been solid at the back in our previous two group games while pressing forward to create scoring chances of our own.

“The same approach will be applied in this tie, as we also want to win this game as well.”
