Nigeria’s U23 national team defender John Lazarus has expressed the team’s satisfaction after the team defeated Sudan’s U23 national team 5-0 to qualify 5-1 on aggregate and in the process secured the ticket for the 2019 CAF Africa U23 cup of nations.
Lazarus speaking in a chat with brila.net said the team had a bit of weight on their shoulders going to the game after the first leg defeat and was very relieving to have turned things around in style.
“Everybody is happy because with the pressure we had after losing the first leg 1-0 away, it was kind of hard for us because many Nigerians expect that we are going to win the game but all things been equal we are happy we became victorious after the game.
“I think it’s a great privilege for us to secure the ticket and it is still for us to work hard and qualify to be among those that will make the Olympic. “
