Ubakanma blames bad turf for Rivers United 1-1 draw against Insurance

Peter Ubakanma says the poor state of the University of Benin football pitch stopped Rivers United from picking all the three points in their away game to Bendel Insurance of Benin on Wednesday.

The Pride of Rivers returned to action in the NPFL matchday ten after not been involved in the last two fixtures and the game ended in a 1-1 against the Benin Arsenal at the University of Benin football pitch.

Speaking to www.brila.net’s Seyi Alao on the game, the young midfielder said the Stanley Eguma’s team are excited on the outcome of the game, but insists the bad state of the pitch cost his side.

Firstly, everybody in the team are doing well, the management also are left out, we are with excited because of the result of the game even if we still feel gutted to miss out on three points,

The University of Benin football pitch is bad and it affected our free-flowing games, We would have picked all the three points.

The defensive midfielder added that the draw will him and his teammates go into the next game with high spirit.

The draw against Bendel insurance of Benin on Wednesday is moral booster for us, and we all know how its difficult to get a point away from home in the NPFL and I hope this will help us in the long run.”
