Ugbade impressed outcome of Eaglets screening session

Nigeria’s U17 Men’s national team head Coach Nduka Ugbade has started open screening for players for the Golden Eaglets in Abuja on Friday.

The screening  at the FIFA goal project in Abuja had youths across the country, fighting for a spot in the team.

Speaking to the media in Abuja, Ugbade, who conducted the exercise said, he’s impressed with what he saw after day one.

“Not too bad, this morning I saw some very good players and some you are just finding their skills and abilities,” He said.

Nduka then explained what he wants to achieve from the ongoing exercise.

“A team that is filled with quality players and talents, then I can improve them and input alot of information. So if they are able to retain it ,then we work on their capacity to deliver the information during matches.”

The Golden Eaglets will feature in a WAFU B tournament in Ghana and the competition also serves as qualifiers for the U17 AFCON in Algeria.

However, the Coach is optimistic that the Eaglets will present aformidable team to prosecute the tournament..

“I’m very confident we can get a formidable team and we must strengthen the introductory aspect.”

“Thank God we have four weeks, we will continue to develop them to do justice to the match.””We have to get the Ghana by June 11 and you know the MIR scan issues, so we have to get things right from here.” He concluded.

The five-time World Champions are drawn in Group A along with hosts Ghana and Togo in a qualifying tournament to be played in Cape Coast, from June 11 to 24.
