Union Berlin have Big plans for Awoniyi

German Bundesliga club Union Berlin won’t be selling Taiwo Awoniyi this summer and are hoping he will become integral to the team’s success in the future, according to reports from Germany.

Awoniyi has been a revelation since signing for the Club from Liverpool and he’s consider to be one to help guide the Club’s long term vision.

Media reports, Monday, claimed Union Berlin are willing to cash in on their record signing this summer with Newcastle United and Aston Villa rumoured to be interested in the Nigerian.

However, Kicker.de has now reported that Manager, Urs Fischer and the board are planning a future with Awoniyi, especially after losing his strike partner Max Kruse in January.

Kruse who assisted seven of Awoniyi’s goals this season forced a move back to Wolfsburg and the club was unable to bring in a replacement.

Awoniyi joined Union Berlin on a permanent contract last summer after impressing on loan during the previous campaign.

The 24-year-old has scored 12 goals in 25 league appearances and helped them climb to 7th position on the league table.
