Thirty-two year Ahmed Musa will return to captain the Super Eagles later this month as the team competes at the 2025 Unity Cup.
The four-nation tournament, billed for the Brentford’s Gtech Community Stadium, will kick off on May 26 and feature Nigeria, Ghana, Jamaica, and Trinidad & Tobago.
Musa’s club, Kano Pillars, confirmed the news via their official social media channel.
“Captain Ahmed Musa is set to lead the Super Eagles at the Unity Cup 4-Nations Tourney from May 26–31, 2025, at Brentford Stadium, London,” the statement read.
The veteran’s inclusion marks a return to the national team after being left out of Nigeria’s squad since the 2023 AFCON.
So far this season, Musa has registered 8 goals and 2 assists for Kano Pillars.
Eric Chelle will likely be without several first-team regulars due to club commitments and FIFA’s non-mandatory release rules for friendly tournaments.
The Unity Cup, last staged in 2004, is making a comeback after a 21-year hiatus. Nigeria won the previous edition, which featured Jamaica and the Republic of Ireland.
