US WNT extends dominance over Super Falcons

Nigeria Women’s National team were outclassed by World Champions, USA, in a friendly match played in Washington DC on Saturday night.

The Super Falcons were humiliated 4-0 by the well drilled Americans, at the Children’s Mercy Park, Kansas City.

Randy Waldrum’s team was poor by all standards, they looked out of sorts and lack identity all through the encounter.

It took just 14 minutes for the Americans to have their noses in front when Sophia Smith opened scoring.

Lindsay Horan then doubled the lead on 25 minutes, following a poor defending from the Nigerians.

Smith got her second of the game in added time to make it 3-0 in favour of the USA.

Former Tottenham Hotspur attacker, Alex Morgan, completed the rout by converting from the penalty spot to end the tie 4-0.

The USA have now extend their winning streak over the Falcons to seven, since their first clash at the 1999 women’s World Cup.

Meanwhile, Falcons manager handed Falconets stars – at the just concluded FIFA U-20 women’s World Cup in Costa Rica – Deborah Abiodun, Tosin Demehin and Rofiat Imuran their debuts while Esther Onyenezide was benched.
