Uwua blames Nigeria’s WAFU Cup ouster on politicized coaches appointment

Former U20 national team coach Godwin Koko Uwua has blamed the ouster of Nigeria’s U20 national team Flying Eagles at the ongoing WAFU cup tournament in Porto Novo, Benin republic on the politicized appointment of coaches into the team.

Uwua who has had various stints at the national team speaking in a no-holds-barred chat with brila.net described the elimination as unfortunate and questioned the appointment of the Flying Eagles handler Ladan Bosso who worked under him at the U23 and U20 level as well as club level with Bendel Insurance.
He added that the Football governing body in Nigeria should look inward and do better with coaches appointment next time.
“Bosso was an assistant coach to me in 2007 and when the team qualified for the world cup, I resigned and went to South Africa and Bosso lead the team to Canada nothing came out of it. Coaching is a professional job, here in Nigeria they turn it into politics they just bring somebody there.
“What is the record of Bosso as a coach in this country? I was not surprised by the result.”
