Uyo to host Super Eagles vs on Bafana Bafana World Cup Qualifier

The Nigeria Football Federation has confirmed June 7 as the date for the 2026 World Cup qualifier between Nigeria and South Africa.

The match which is the first meeting is scheduled for Friday, June 7th, at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo.

With South Africa currently second place in Group C with three points from two matches, and Nigeria closely trailing in third with two points, the stakes are high for both teams.

Rwanda leads the group with four points.

The World Cup qualifying group also features Lesotho, Zimbabwe, and Benin.

Automatic qualification for the 2026 World Cup, co-hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico, is reserved for the group winner.

Both Nigeria and South Africa missed out on the previous FIFA World Cup held in Qatar.

This face-off follows their thrilling encounter in the 2023 AFCON semifinals, where the Super Eagles clinched victory in a dramatic penalty shootout.
