Van Bronkhorst proud of Aribo, Bassey after Rangers reach Europa league semifinal

Rangers boss Giovanni Van Bronkhorst is proud of Joe Aribo, Leon Balogun and Calvin Bassey after they helped the club reach Europa League last four.

The Super Eagles stars were involved in the Gers 3-1 second leg victory over Portuguese side Sporting Braga at the Ibrox on Thursday.

Aribo was the most impressive among the trio as he contributed an assist and created four scoring opportunities for the team.

While Aribo was pulling the string from the middle, Balogun and Calvin Bassey held the down and shut out the opposition attack.

Speaking after the game, Van Bronkhorst said, he’s proud of the trio and the entire team for their contributions to the success so far

“It was a big night and a big result for us. It was a game that was going up and down: 10 men, nine men, decisions, goals disallowed, VAR, penalties, red cards… it had it all and it was quite hectic but in the end you go through to the semis.

“I’m very proud. To reach the last four in Europe is a major achievement for everyone. We worked hard for it in the group stages and in the games after. We knew a 1-0 loss in Braga wasn’t a bad result”.

Rangers are now in the semi-final of European competition for the first time in 14-years. They’ll trade tackles with Bundelisga side RB Leipzig for a place in the final.
