Van den Brom wants to keep Onuachu at Genk beyond this summer

KRC Genk boss Van den Brom says there is a possibility that Paul Onuachu could leave the club, but he wants to keep him beyond this summer.

Onuachu has been linked with a move to a number of clubs outside Belgium, but nothing has been agreed at the moment.

The Nigerian international became one of the most sorted-after players in Europe following his record-breaking performances for Genk’s last campaign.

Onuachu banged 33 goals in 38 leagues for Genk as he led the club to Belgian Cup glory and Champions League place.

Genk has resumed training camp ahead of the 2021-2022 campaign, but Onuachu whose future remains unclear hasn’t joined up with the squad.

In a chat with Belgian paper, Voetbalniews, Van den Brom said the big striker could leave, but he remains Genk’s player at the moment.

“I hope that we will still be without leavers on September 1. It would be very nice if we could keep this core together,”

”It is not certain that Lucumi and Onuachu will definitely leave, but for the time being, they are still at Genk.

“They are the two players we said are likely to leave, but that doesn’t mean they’re leaving the club anyway,” he said.
