Royale Union Saint-Gilloise boss, Karel Geraerts says he’s satisfied with Victor Boniface’s contributions, despite the Forward’s lack of goals in the league.
Boniface is enjoying productive campaign in Europe this season, netting five times in seven Europa League matches.
He is joint second in the list of strikers with most goals in the competition, behind Manchester United striker Marcus Rashford.
Rge 22 year-old emerged as the Europa League Player of the Week last Thursday, and he set up one goal as Union Saint-Gilloise beat Union Berlin 3-0 to zoom into Europa League quarter final.
However things haven’t quite happened for the 22-year-old on the domestic scene as he has seven goals and five assists to show for his 26 league games this season.
“Victor has been very good”, Geraerts said as he provided answers as to why his forward is misfiring in the Jupiler Pro League.
“Boniface is also someone who takes responsibility. There are no stars with us, but there are good players. It is important to have players who push us to that extra percentage and who have personality.
“Maybe he will give a little more in Europe. After all, we are still in European competition. You should ask him the question, but he was good again, as usual.”
The Nigerian is expected to be in action once again when Union Saint-Gilloise take on Mechelen on Sunday.
